Fire Stick Buffering Maintenance Checklist

1. Restart the Fire Stick

◦ Hold down Select + Play/Pause for 10 seconds, or go to

Settings → My Fire TV → Restart.

2. Restart Your Modem/Router

◦ Unplug both modem and router for 30–60 seconds, then plug back in.

◦ Wait a few minutes for full reconnection.

3. Check Internet Speed (Built-In Test)

◦ Go to Settings → Network → Highlight your Wi-Fi → Press Play/Pause.

◦ Review download speed, signal strength, and connection quality.

4. Turn VPN On or Off

◦ If your ISP throttles streaming, try turning VPN ON.

◦ If buffering is worse, try turning VPN OFF (some VPN servers slow things down).

5. Clear Cache on Apps

◦ Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications.

◦ Pick an app and select Clear Cache.

6. Uninstall Unused Apps

For best streaming performance, make sure your Fire Stick has at least 1.5GB of free storage available.

◦ Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Uninstall.

7. Turn Off Background Processes & Privacy Tracking

◦ Settings → Preferences → Privacy Settings → Turn off Device Usage Data, App Usage Data, and Interest-based Ads.

8. Adjust Video Settings

◦ Settings → Display & Sounds → Display.

◦ Set resolution to 1080p instead of 4K if Wi-Fi is weak.

9. Keep Software Updated

◦ Settings → My Fire TV → About → Check for Updates.

IMPORTANT (7/2/25):

At some point not sure when.....Amazon is coming out with new Operating Software on their Firesticks In which all the Streaming apps out there will not be able to be loaded on any new Firesticks.....At the moment we dont know if they will be updating any older Firesticks. We do know they will not be Updating any of the Fire TVs out there

If for some reason they do an update to any older Firesticks the Options would be a new Google Streaming Device we are testing that looks really good, any other Android streaming device out there, Fire TVs (We heard they are Not updating the OS on those) or Direct on a Smart TV by downloading your Smart TV's Streaming App( Not the greatest App but they do work)

AGAIN we are just Preparing In Case any Issues arise....We will be ready by putting out Videos and Written Directions for the Promising New Streaming Device and other ways to Stream the APPs in case Issues arise or for new people that want a streaming device or others that are looking to add more streaming device
